_feralC_: Launching May 8th

_feralC: Coming to a Twitter List near U soon!_

_feralC_ will launch on the Saturday the 8th May at 3pm East-Coast Australian time [go here for global times].

_feralC_ is a “socumentary” [mix of social_networking mockumentary & Alternate Reality Sequencing] that will trace the Twitter output of special networked characters. For those entities keen to participate non-synthetically [ie in "real life"] and are near or can travel to Bristol [UK], please turn up to PW10 Performance Writing 2010: Lingua Franca. The event runs from Sat 8 May 11.00am – 9.00pm + Sun 9 May 11.00am – 6pm: head to the Arnolfini Gallery Reading Room to play [with] _feral C_ and other fabulous e-lit works.

Stay tuned + remember: follow the synthetic brick road….

  1. Interesting use of the term “socumentary”. It reminds me of “sock puppet” terminology for instance in Wikipedia etc; like a reimagining of the Hollow-Man?

    • hullo “Cblemmer”. nice 2 synthetically encounter u [wot's the "C" stand for btw?]

…i must admit the phrase “sock puppet” wasn’t hi-on-my-list when constructing the idea of a socumentary…it does seem very applicable in terms of formatting + structure ie tweet-tracing the interaction patterns of the 5 primary “chars” + assorted secondary “real” + “fake” persons [ie ring-ins;)]?

  3. This is very exciting Mez – love your language and the thoughts behind what you’re doing. I will watch and listen out for more!

    • thanks Lucy – don’t just listen + watch tho: feel free to dip in + engage the chars directly [blog comments work just as fine in terms of participation if your not all stitched-in2-the Twitterverse]…i kno ur story abilities stretch w_i_d_e :) ]

  5. I can understand that sock puppet as a term probably didn’t factor in too much in this #feralc project. I’m also thinking now of Soap Operas and how they might translate into social media forms? Does #feralc address this in any way?

    • hi again c,

interesting re “Soc Operas”…u should trademark that. ;) in a sense i can see that #feralc could b perceived [+ potentially may even execute] as a “soc opera”..there’s enuff elements in common…soap operas have been performed in social media spaces previously both in Twitter + Facebook.

the more i’m immersed in creating the proj, the more i’m realizing the ultimate transmedia/crossmedia potential of it: the actual delivery can read as script [following the primary char dialogues, photos, links, QR Codes - alone or in combo with others] + improv [think: sec chars] whereas the overall framework involves absorption via several channels [engaging with it as hashtag/list-based gives u a completely different experience 2 absorbing it through the blog or in tandem with the list/# (the soon -2-b posted summaries really throw some narrative complexity in2 the mix)]. + the linguistic variations/streams r also a huge factor in how the proj may b perceived [if followers rn't curious enuff 2 play/research the char's lingo, the experience will be radically diff 4rm those that do]…also, creating char’s voices through “tweetalogues” while incorporating live input from the “audience” in the form of sec chars is an amazing experience…

anyhoo enuff 4rm me b4 i give away spoilers;)
