The Global City has created a paradox in the idling tourist that has to do with the limitations placed around them – as foreigners - at the same time as collapsing and levelling the distance between individuals and the places they are in – consumers in the Global economy. Tourists go along with this paradox, reflecting (mostly unconsciously) on such experiences through acts of photography or writing postcards or even travel diaries, the limited ways they have to take possession of their production in the spectacle of the Global City.
