Yet the City must somehow remain inhabitable. And it needs to remain so not just for the consumers of today, but also for the future, whether that is populated by tourists, migrants, or disgruntled citizens standing disillusioned and disenfranchised beside, inside, or outside the bastions of power. The Global City is a centre of people, the Metro-polis.
Is there still room for that strange, mystical power, the source of human creativity, name it what you want, "God" if you like, to fill and surge this City forth and point towards a yonder, a beyond dot com? Or have our dreams and hopes become just primers for a capitalism's ads.
