The end of the 20th Century has confronted humanity with the failure of the West's binary system of logic and universal reason. This has affected all aspects of culture and every Western nation can be seen cowering at the beginning of the 21st Century in the wake of this uncertainty. The outcome has been an outbreak and globalisation of racism. The closing of the Global City's gates to migrants, tourists, and other travellers, sometimes even its own citizens, not to mention asylum seekers and refugees, in the name of freedom, peace, and security, is the latest symptom in preventing our excluded Others from asserting themselves in whatever way they can in world affairs.
