After the collapse of communism, tourists as well as citizens could daily observe (mostly itinerant migrant) workers – the new slaves of the 21st Century – toiling away in transforming what had for so long been the black hole at the heart of Europe, the rubbish dump of history.
The spectacle of the InfoBox in Leipziger Platz was amusing as people queued to pay and see the transformation of the City taking place before their eyes, as the empty interstice of the Berlin Wall again became a throbbing centre for global commerce and industry.
